World Cup 2018: Mikel wakes up ahead of Iceland Clash: See what he started doing

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has shown new zeal ahead of Nigeria’s second 2018 World Cup Group D match against Iceland on Friday in Russia.

The former Chelsea star widely criticised for putting up a below-average performance in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Croatia in their first match on Saturday was captured in a video arriving the team’s training ground in Essentuki 10 minutes ahead of the other members of the team.

The 31-year-old was seen doing some form of personal preparation to correct some of the mistakes attributed to him and the team in the Croatia match.

In the short video posted by Kwese ESPN on Monday, the Tianjin Teda midfielder was seen practicing set-pieces with none of his teammates in sight except a few members of the team’s technical crew around.

Mikel was eventually joined by the rest of the squad and the coaches, and they trained for another hour.

The Eagles play their second game of the World Cup against Iceland on June 22 in Volgograd and the kick off time is 4:00pm.
