World Cup 2018: See what Mikel says he will do for Nigeria to reach Round of 16

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has reaffirmed his willingness to do anything for Nigeria to progress beyond the group stage of the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Earlier, Kwese ESPN had posted a video of the former Chelsea star training and practising set-pieces ten(10) minutes before the normal training schedule of the team.

The Tianjin Teda midfielder has been widely criticised for putting up a below-average performance in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Croatia in their first match on Saturday and is recently reported to be ready to sacrifice his role for the Super Eagles to make progress in the Mundial.
Former Super Eagles Media Officer, Colin Udoh tweeted a statement made by the 31-year-old reaffirming his commitment to carry the team through to the next stage of the World Cup.

“I am the captain of this team. If I have to sacrifice for this team to progress, I will. If I have to sacrifice a position, go play wherever, I will do that for this team to win games.”
Manchester United Coach, Jose Mourinho had criticised Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr for fielding the midfielder in a creative role rather than a defensive position.

The Eagles play their second game of the World Cup against Iceland on June 22 in Volgograd and the kick off time is 4:00 pm in Nigeria.
