Uruguay humbled by France

Les Blues celebrate goal against Uruguay

The first quarter final match of the Russia 2018 world cup between Uruguay and France ended with Les Blues cruising past dominantly.

It was a match that produced less goal scoring opportunities for both sides especially for France until they sought their way through to have the lead in the first 45 minute after Antone Griezman’s free-kick met Real Madrid defender, Raphael Varane who headed past Muslera, scoring with France first shot on target.

Uruguay responded immediately with a free kick, this time, Caceres headed into Hugo Loris near post and forced him to make a superb save only for the inrushing Godin to lash the rebound over the bar.

With injured Edinson Cavani watching from the stands,Luis Suares was given a close check during the game duration which made him unable to have a single touch on the ball in the opposition box.

France having much of the ball in the second 45 minutes of the game, Bayern Munich midfielder, Tolisso tied up a short pass to Antone Griezman who took a flying shot straight at the standing Muslera who adjudged the direction of the ball, which flew over his palms, bouncing slowly into the empty net, and consequently bringing tears from a young Uruguayan supporter who cried into the arms of his mother.

Griezman due to his relationship with Diego Godin was unable to celebrate the goal in the expected fashion.

Uruguay seeing the match was far off their hands, tried to get something from the match, sending bodies forward which brought nothing positive hence except for French citizens who will be happy to watch their team in the Semifinals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
