Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, Leon Balogun has switched his allegiance to English Premier League side, Brighton Hove Albion.
The German-born joins the English club on a free transfer after leaving Bundesliga side, FSV Mainz.
According to the Premier League side, Leon is expected to see out a 2-year contract at the club.
Chris Hughton, Brighton’s Manager said he was delighted to have Balogun in the club and believes the 29-year-old will add more depth to his side’s defensive options.
“He is in the peak years of his career and I am sure he will integrate well into the squad. He also has valuable experience, having played in the Bundesliga, the Europa League and at international level.”
Leon made started out his football career at Turkeyemspor Berlin and made his debut in the German Bundesliga at Hannover in a game against Hamburger SV on April 19, 2009.
Having played at Hannover 96, Balogun also had spells at SV Werder Bremen, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Darmstadt 98 and FSV Mainz and has a total of 14 goals in his professional career.
Leon will be hoping to make the final cut after he was shortlisted by Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr in the 30-man provisional squad list as Nigeria makes her sixth appearance at the 21st FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
