Spain appoint Fernando Hierro as new coach


Fernando Hierro has been appointed Head Coach of Spain’s senior side by the Spanish Football Federation few hours after sacking Julen Lopetegui.

He will take over from Julen Lopetegui who was sacked a few hours ago after agreeing to a deal with Real Madrid to coach the La Liga outfit on Tuesday.

Hierro will be the new man in the helm of affairs when Spain open their World Cup campaign against Portugal on Friday before other group meetings with Iran and Morroco.

Hierro before his appointment was Spanish Football  Sporting Director. He played for Real Madrid and Bolton Wanderers etc before his last appointment at  Real Oviedo as manager in 2016.
