A victorious sunday it was for Rafael Nadal at the finals of the 2018 French Open as he cruised past Dominic Thiem in all sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 to lift his 11th title at the Roland Garros.
Two days earlier, ESPN’s Senior Writer, Bonnie Ford reeled out an article with a caption that hinged the title Thiem’s way. It read “If anyone can take down Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros, it’s Dominic Thiem.”
The Spaniard going into his 11th finals at the Roland Garros possessed an 100 percent record having won previous ten.
With that motivation on the heels of victory over Del Potro, the 24 year old set to work and made light weight of Thiem in all three sets.
