The Grand Stade de Tanger has been approved
to hold the Supercopa de Espana by the
Spanish football federation and
representatives of both Barcelona and Sevilla.
Delegates from all the parties visited for a second
time the Moroccan city to evaluate the stadium for
Spanish footballers curtain opener on August 12th.
According to a statement from the RFEF,
representatives looked at all the facilities including
the changing rooms and the press zone.
“They are very new facilities, only seven years old
and perfectly adequate to host an important event
like the Supercopa de Espana,” read the press
release from the Spanish federation.
However, according to the news agency EFE on
Thursday, the stadium went 24 hours without
electricity due to unpaid bills over a six month
period.
This though is not expected to cause any problems
for the clash between Barcelona and Sevilla.
