Super Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, has revealed what he thinks about Barcelona star, Lionel Messi ahead of Nigeria’s final Group D encounter against Argentina.
Rohr has explained that despite his love for Lionel Messi and Argentina’s brink of elimination from the Mundial, Nigeria will not be petty in play against the Albiceleste.
“We love this great player, Messi, everybody loves him.
“We are not here to watch him play. We are here to make a result, we are professionals.
“We are here to defend the colours of Nigeria and we know in football there is no mercy, no pity, everybody wants to win and we cannot make any gifts even if we like very much this player,” Rohr explained on Monday to the media.
The Franco-german is faced with an opportunity to break the jinx against Argentina who have been dominant against Nigeria in competitive matches.
A win or a draw for the Super Eagles will mean an early exit for Lionel Messi’s Argentina from the World Cup.
The match will take place at St. Petersburg Stadium by 7 PM Nigerian time on Tuesday.
