Akwa United thrash Aklosendi 5-2 in Aiteo Cup 2018 round of 32 fixture

Aiteo cup defending champions Akwa United on Sunday in Port Harcourt thrashed Aklosendi 5-2 to step into the Aiteo Cup 2018 round of 16.

Coming back fresh from an emphatic 7-0 round of 64 victory against Hope of Glory F. C, the Promise Keepers ensured they left no stone unturn in the round of 32 as the quest for a continental ticket continues.

The Uyo based side were odd-on to win this particular encounter, but nothing was inevitable in football as Aklosendi football club took an early lead in the game from Aruna Sule, leaving Akwa united to play a catch-up.

It was left for a defender in Ariwachukwu to level for Akwa United as they took control of the proceedings.

The man that has been in the minds of the Akwa United supporters as he scored a superb hat-trick in Uyo to stage an unsuccessful comeback against El Hilal in the CAF Confederations cup, Micheal Ibe took from were Ariwachukwi ended by scoring four superb goals, first assisted by Aniekeme Asuquo (Perere) who had two assist, Ibe had his second after striker Boniface Mathew flicked a header into his path to have a brace, Ibe then took a superb free-kick to complete his hat-trick, Shehu Zabed pulled another back for Aklosendi from the spot, but it wasn’t enough as Ibe took the last goal of the match from the spot to give Akwa a 5-2 win as they stroll into the round of 16, seeking a defense of the trophy they won last year.
