The African School Games bring together thousands of young athletes from across Africa for celebration of sports, education, and unity.
This event is a collaboration between the Association of National Olympics Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the International School Sport Federation (ISF), opened new doors for African sports.
EVENT DETAILS:
– Participation: About 1,700 athletes from 47 countries took part.
– Location: The games were held in Annaba, Algeria, from July 26 to August 5, 2025.
– Disciplines: 10 sports were featured, including athletics, badminton, basketball, football, swimming, gymnastics, karate, judo, taekwondo, and table tennis.
GOALS OF THE GAMES
Beyond competition, the African School Games foster:
– Intercultural exchanges: Celebrating diversity among nations.
– Fraternity: Promoting mutual respect and unity among peoples.
– Collective development: Every moment becomes a learning opportunity, builds stronger bonds and fosters a sense of community.
Nigeria clinched 25 medals from the event and has been selected as the host of the 2027 African School Games.
