Super Eagles and Akwa United forward Ndifreke Effiong has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi.
The Libyan club made the announcement on their Twitter page on Thursday.
The forward joins Al Ahly Benghazi after spending three years with the Promise Keepers.
Effiong joined the Uyo-based side from neighboring Abia Warriors and has since been a torn in the flesh of defenders in the Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL).
The 22-year old forward who is the leading scorer in the current NPFL season with eight goals left the club during the midseason break.
Effiong has represented Nigeria at the Rio 2014 Olympics in Brazil, making one appearance for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2019 as well as featuring for the home-based Eagles.
Akwa United are currently 3rd on the log, two points behind leaders Kwara United as they push for a continental ticket as the second phase of the league is set to begin this weekend.
