Italian authorities are currently investigating both the Director and General Director of Perugia University where Luiz Suarez took his Italian exams for allegedly aiding the forward to pass.
Suarez himself is not under the investigation but the university hierarchies are under scrutiny for already grading the Uruguayan forward before him taking the exams.
The 33-year old has Italian ancestors and needed a European passport to help him join another team as he seeks to leave Barcelona.
He was on the verge of joining Italian champions Juventus before the deal fell through due to lack of a European passport as the only spot for a non-EU player was occupied by summer arrival Weston McKenni from Shalke 04.
Despite the deal to Juve failing to materialise, Suarez went on to take the exams as it was already fixed before the Italian side pulled out of the deal.
Spanish side Atletico Madrid are now the frontrunners for his signature as he has terminated the remaining one year of his contract to aid him leave the Nou Camp for free.
However, it is being reported that Spanish striker Alvaro Morata will now return to Italy with Juventus were he spent two successful seasons between 2014 and 2016.
Suarez is not in anyway obstructed from completing his move away from Barcelona as he is not in any form of investigation at the mean time.
