Victor Osimhen’s brother Andrew has stressed the reasons his brother turned down a move to Manchester United and instead joined Napoli.

The Super Eagles striker secured a big money move to Naples after being linked with the Red Devils.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed he phoned Osimhen days before he signed for Napoli but he gave his reasons not to come to Manchester.

Andrew has cleared the air on his decision after the 21-year old secured a €70m move to Serie A side Napoli.

‘It is very true that Manchester United wanted Victor but he told me something like he had too much respect for Odion Ighalo to be competing for shirts with his senior colleague,’ Andrew

‘My brother holds Ighalo in high esteem and he just didn’t see himself going to Old Trafford to battle for a striking role with the highest goalscorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.’

Osimhen has had a good start to life in Naples, scoring consecutive hat-tricks in his first two friendlies for the club as he prepares for the new Serie A season.
