Sources close to Lionel Messi has revealed that the Argentine star could costs as low as £88.8m (€100m) according to the daily Telegraph.

The Barcelona captain has been constantly linked with a move away from the club, and the current situation reduces his release clause in six places.

Messi’s release clause was earlier stated to be €700m as this scared clubs away from pricing him, and this revelation will light up a bidding war for his signature.

Manchester City are strong favourites for the 33-year old’s signature and the current price will be a huge boost in their pursuit.

Messi could be the next in line to leave the Nou Camp as Rakitic has already rejoined Sevilla coupled with Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal who all wants to leave.
