Everton defender Leighton Baines announces his retirement from football.
Baines made the announcement after the 3-1 loss to Bournemouth at Goodison park.
The 35-year old was a second half substitute as he bid his surprise farewell.
The Left-back was due for a contract extension as the Blues planned on keeping him at the club.
But the announcement came as a surprise after featuring in the final game of the season.
“Leighton Baines has taken this decision to stop playing, every Evertonian must be grateful to him, he is a fantastic example and had a great career,” Ancelotti said. “We want to keep him at the club, his knowledge is really important.”
Baines has written his name on the history books of the club as he has spent 13 years, wearing the blue and white jersey.
