Manchester United are targeting to leapfrog Napoli and hijack the deal for Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen, the sun reports.

The Old Trafford club reportedly phoned the Lille forward’s newest agent to find out the situation of the deal.

Italian reporter Ciro Venerato said the Red Devils are still hunting the forward who has been on the radar for top European clubs.

The 21-year old has been on negotiations for weeks with Napoli, and with the financial strength United have, they may beat Napoli for his signature.

Venerato told calcionapoli24 ““A few hours ago Manchester United phoned Osimhen’s new agent to find out if he had signed with Napoli.

Also read:

“If an offer from United comes, there would not be many possibilities because they have an economic power superior to that of Napoli.”

Supers Eagles forward Osimhen has been a strong admirer of the English Premier League, having reportedly waited for any offer from England while he delayed the signing for Napoli.

He was heavily linked to English Champions Liverpool but a deal failed to materialise.

Osimhen has been in tremendous form for Lille, having scored 13 league goals in his debut season.

United will need to add to their deadly attack as they aim for another striker to challenge the likes of Martial to up their games.
