Former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha has made known his greatest regret in his playing days was not being crowned African Best.
Jay Jay Okocha has won the BBC African footballer of the year on three occasions but always misses out when it comes to the African Continent.
The former skipper named his regret in an exclusive interview saying;
“Not winning the African Footballer of the year is my biggest career regret, I thought I did enough to have won it because it wasn’t a fluke that I won the BBC POTY thrice in a row and didn’t manage to win the CAF awards, maybe it wasn’t meant to be”.
“Well, I think I don’t want to sound greedy, but I’ve had an amazing career, I never thought I would make it that big.”
Okocha has played with the likes of Brazilian legend Ronaldinho who once said he learnt a lot from the Nigerian.
The ball joggler and crowd entertainer had a blistering career playing for French giants Paris Saint Germain, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City as well as playing in the German Bundesliga in a career span of about 20 years.
