Former Manchester United goalkeeper coach Emillio Alvarez has said that the problem Paul Pogba is having at the club since he retuned is the “star signing” factor.
Pogba was resigned by the club he left as a teenager from Juventus in a world record transfer of £89m with much expectations and responsibility placed on his shoulder.
In a bid to return to the glory days since famous coach Sir Alex Ferguson retired, the Frenchman was brought on to shift the game for the club from the middle, but he is yet to fully justify his price tag.
Alvarez who was brought in from Atletico Madrid to help shape the performance of goalkeeper David Da Gea explains the situation surrounding the World cup winner at old Trafford.
“I do know that he is a footballer with all the talent to play at any club in the world. Physically he is incredibly gifted,” Alvarez told AS.
“Where he has problems is the area of the demands that come with being a star signing. At United, he was weighed down by the responsibility and the pressure of being a multi-million euro signing. He was anxious to show his level.
“I stayed with him after training and did extra work. I can tell you that he has incredible dexterity, talent and is incredible athletically.
“His success depends on his head. He needs to make challenges and to be more self-critical. He could be a great signing for Madrid.”
United will travel to Selhurst pack to face Crystal Palace on Thursday in a must win game in a bid to keep their Champions league hopes alive, and Pogba is understood to be starting once again although he didn’t have a very good game the last time at Old Trafford.
