Former Chelsea and Ivorian International Didier Drogba’s desire to become his country’s football Association President meets a new setback today when the country player’s association decided in favour of his opponent.
With five eligible associations to endorse a candidate. The other three have already decided, and the AFI joins in deciding against the Country’s Legend and record goalscorer.
Defending their decision, the AFI said they only decided in favour of Idriss Diallo, the country’s current Vice-president following the footsteps of ex-stars Bonaventure Kalou, Cyril Domoraud as well as Ahmed Ouattara.
“In line with the majority of its members, the board decided to grant AFI’s sponsorship to the list led by Idriss Diallo,”
“This choice is in line with the recommendation made by two thirds of the delegates at the end of last Friday’s meeting,” the body said in a statement.
