Super Eagles gaffer Coach Gernot Rohr has given his backing to his top striker Victor Oshimen who is on the verge of signing for Italian club Napoli.
Oshimen is locked in negotiations with the Serie A club as Lille are understood to resign to withholding the player.
Rorh said “Of course, we are talking about a scorer, a player of power and speed. He is a fighter, he never accepts defeat, he always wants to win, even in training matches,” Rohr stated.
“Often, in our chats, I advise him to take an important step and go to a club where he can find the right space to play continuously and grow. He is a guy who loves to work hard and who needs to be in constant competition.
“Victor is someone who always wants to grow and improve, technically and tactically. Then he is a smart, intelligent boy and I repeat: has everything it takes to get to Didier Drogba’s level”.
“I think Napoli will be a great chance for Victor and he will prove to be a great player for Napoli if the deal obviously goes through,” Rohr added.
The former Wolfsburg man was a top target to several European big clubs including Premier league Champions Liverpool, but Napoli are said to have won the race as fees have been agreed between Napoli and Lille, subject to personal terms and paper works.
Oshimen 21, who scored 13 goals for the Ligue 1 side last term will move to Naples this summer should the deal materialise and his national team coach has given him his go ahead.
