Premier League giants Manchester United are likely to break a premier league record for the most number of awarded penalties for a team in a season.
Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot in United’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham, bringing their penalty tally to eleven this season.
The current record for awarded penalties a season is held by both Crystal Palace (2004/05) and Leicester City (2015/16).
Both teams are tied on 13 penalties each and United are just a couple of penalties shy that record.
With eight league matches remaining for the red Devils, it’s odds on 8/10 that they may break the record this season.
Interestingly, United fans have come out to clear the air on their awarded penalties, calling them genuine especially with the introduction of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the league this season, they insist teams cannot be awarded undue penalties anymore in the league.
